Getting a Useful Answer Faster
Most messages we receive are about a font match that looked wrong. Those are genuinely useful to us — bad matches are one of the main ways we find gaps in the index — but they are much easier to act on with a little context. If you are reporting a result, it helps enormously to attach the image you uploaded, tell us which font names came back, and say what you believe the correct font actually is.
Before writing in, it is worth checking whether the issue is one of the known limits of image-based identification. Crops containing two different typefaces, images with only two or three visible characters, text sitting over busy photographs, and logos built from custom drawn lettering will all produce weak results no matter how good the index is. Our About page sets out where the tool works well and where it does not, and the preprocessing write-up explains why those particular cases are hard.
Common Questions
Can you add a specific font to the index?
Often, yes. Send us the font name and a link to where it is published. Fonts with open licenses are straightforward to add; commercially licensed families depend on whether we can legally render samples from them.
Do you offer an API?
Not publicly at the moment. If you have a use case in mind, describe the volume and the application and we will tell you honestly whether it is something we can support.
Can you tell me whether I may use a font commercially?
We can point you to the license the publisher has attached to a font, and our results link to the source wherever we have it. We cannot give legal advice, and license terms change — always confirm directly with the foundry or publisher before shipping a logo or a product.
How do I request deletion of my data?
Email us from the address concerned and we will handle it. The Privacy Policy sets out what is collected and the rights available to you, including access and deletion.
I found an error in one of your articles.
Please tell us — we would rather be corrected than be wrong. Include the article URL and what you believe the correct information is, and we will update the piece and note the change.
